Shooting victim found on the side of the road, suspects unknown

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus Police need your help finding the person responsible for leaving a gunshot victim on the side of the road.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday night police say a 29-year-old man was shot near the intersection of Buena Vista Road and Annette Avenue.

The victim was shot once in the leg and another time near the upper arm, close to his chest. Police say the victim was staggering away from the scene towards Illges Road when a passing driver saw him.

The driver saw the victim fall over, at which time he pulled his car over, checked on the man and then after discovering he had been shot, the good Samaritan called police.

The victim was taken to the Columbus Medical Center where he underwent surgery for his gunshot wounds. Police say he is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.

A witness in the area tells police she saw two black men, between 5'5" and 5'7", one wearing a tan t-shirt and the other wearing a black t-shirt, run away from the scene where the shooting is believed to have taken place.
