COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus police are trying to find the answers to an early Sunday morning shooting that sent one teen to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Just after midnight police officers responded to the HCMH Event Center on Boxwood Blvd. Reports show several teens were running out of the building, claiming to hear gunshots. Police searched the building and could not find a shooter or a victim, but did see spots of blood on the floor.

An hour later officers were called to the Columbus Medical Center where they found a 16 year old boy who had been shot in the leg. The victim told police he was shot at the HCMH Event Center earlier. He told police he was hanging out in the club when a fight broke out and he was shot from behind in the left calf.

The victim is listed in good condition and the person responsible for the shooting is unknown.

If you have any information on this crime you are asked to call the Columbus Police Department at (706)653-3400.
