COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus Police tell News Leader 9 they've made an arrest in the murder of 33-year-old Calvin Jones.

Investigators say 50-year-old Cynthia Murray Sanders from Seale, Alabama is behind bars for stabbing and killing Jones Monday afternoon.

It happened at a home on School House Drive, off Georgetown Drive in the Sweetwater Village subdivision on the city's east side. That's situated between Kendrick High School, Georgetown Elementary and East Columbus Magnet Academy.

According to officials, Sanders got into a physical altercation with Jones.

Sanders says Jones threw a table lamp at her and grabbed her arm.

That's when she says she went to the kitchen, grabbed a large kitchen knife and stabbed Jones in the chest, killing him.

Investigators are not shedding light on how Sanders and Jones are acquainted.

Cynthia Sanders is charged with murder. She is being held in the Muscogee County Jail and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Oct. 27th at 2 PM.

Calvin Jones is from Columbus but according to Muscogee County Deputy Coroner Charles Newton, the murder scene is not where he lived.

His body is being sent to the state crime lab in Atlanta Tuesday for an autopsy.

Jones is the city's 12th murder victim of 2010.
