COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Monday was the deadline for candidates to turn in their campaign disclosure report for October 2010 to the Muscogee County Elections Office.  These reports list money raised and spent throughout the campaign.

Questions were raised as to why Mayoral candidate Zeph Baker had not filed his reports as of Monday.

He told News Leader Nine his treasurer has the responsibility to turn in the paperwork.

When asked why disclosure reports for September and October were late, Baker responded, "Absolutely, we will make sure they are on time today."

Candidates have a set time period to file this report and a grace period before they are fined $25.  There is a second grace period before the fine triples.  According to Muscogee County's Elections Director, Baker already owes money to the State Ethics Commission for the missing September campaign disclosure report.

News Leader Nine looked on the State Ethics Commission's website and discovered Baker appears to owe the Commission $150 from his campaign for State Representative against Calvin Smyre in 2008.
