Man stopped with meth worth $28,000

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A traffic stop leads to a major meth bust in Columbus.

On Saturday at noon, members of the Columbus Police Department's Special Operations Unit stopped 35 year old Barron Hernandez at the intersection of Manchester Expressway and River Road.

Inside, officials say they found more than half a pound of methamphetamine, worth more than $28,000.

Hernandez, who police say is from Tucker, Georgia, was arrested and charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Monday at 2PM.
