Home goes up in flames on Columbus' south side

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus firefighters responded to a call at 2303 South Lumpkin Road early Monday morning.

Battalion Chief Keith Watson told News Leader 9, the fire started around 6:00 a.m. and was mostly contained to the interior of the home.

When firefighters arrived the house was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire destroyed the family's belongings inside. 

No one was home at the time of the blaze. Investigators are still combing through the rubble looking for clues. 

No word yet on what caused the fire.
