Police: Couple left grandson in shopping cart

LAFAYETTE, GA (AP) - A couple have been charged with reckless conduct after police say they left their 2-year-old grandson in a Walmart parking lot in northwest Georgia.

LaFayette Police say Lisa Jane Templeton and Terry Wayne Templeton left Tristan Young in a shopping cart Sunday.

Police say security video shows the pair loading purchases from the cart and getting into their car. Terry Templeton then goes back into the store. Another customer sees the boy and takes him inside, where police say the store manager made an announcement. Then Templeton walks back out and the couple drives away.

Police say the couple returned about 30 minutes later.

The two were initially charged with felony child cruelty, but a judge lowered the charges to reckless conduct Monday morning. They were released later Monday after each posting $500 bond.
