Authorities: 13-year-old Ga. girl shot by brother

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in Albany say they are investigating the shooting death of a 13-year-old girl by her 15-year-old brother at the family's home.

Dougherty County Coroner Emma Quimbley says Lejuawlard Lunsford died Tuesday night, likely from a gunshot wound to the neck. Quimbley said the teen was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The Albany Herald reports that Greg Blackmon with the Dougherty County District Attorney's office says the girl's brother, Thomas Lunsford, accidentally shot his sister with a rifle that was in the house.

Police are not releasing details of the shooting, referring all calls to the district attorney's office. Officials with the Dougherty County District Attorney's office have not returned calls from The Associated Press.
