Soldier found slain at Fort Stewart

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Military investigators suspect a domestic fight may have led to the slaying of a Fort Stewart soldier found bleeding outside a barracks building on the southeast Georgia Army post.

Fort Stewart spokesman Kevin Larson said Thursday the soldier was stabbed and authorities have reason to believe the killing "may be a domestic incident." He would not comment further, citing the ongoing investigation.

A delivery driver found the wounded soldier late Wednesday and called police. The soldier was pronounced dead at nearby Winn Army Community Hospital.

The soldier's name has not been released pending notification of his family. Larson says the 3rd Infantry Division soldier was killed less than a day after he returned from a yearlong deployment to Iraq.
