Georgia's state tax collections rise in November

ATLANTA (AP) - Fueled by property and corporate income tax collections, Georgia's revenues climbed in November for the sixth straight month.

State officials reported Monday that tax collections for the month are up 6.7% from the same month a year before. That's an increase of about $79.6 million.

For the fiscal year that began July 1, revenues are up 7.4%.

Individual income tax collections, which are considered an important economic indicator, are up 7.8% for the fiscal year.

Property tax collections were 109.6% higher in November than in the same month last year. Corporate income taxes jumped 175.9% as compared to November 2009.

The six straight months of growth follows 17 months of decline.
