COLUMBUS, GA  (WTVM) –  Murder charges against two Columbus men have been put on hold.

Clarence Mahone and Kubiat Ekperikpe had been charged with murder stemming from a shooting that left 24-year-old Maurice Hollis dead.

Officials say there is not enough evidence to proceed.
If evidence does appear, the district attorney's office says the case can be put back on the docket.

Mahone pleaded guilty to separate charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and theft that stemmed from an incident at a pawn shop in 2006.
