COLUMBUS, GA  (WTVM) -  Investigators are probing a murder-suicide in the city's southeast side.

Officers found the bodies of Alisha and Christopher Kendrick, both 23, inside a home in the 700 block of Greenbriar Drive, off Buena Vista Road just before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the Muscogee County Coroner, preliminary autopsy results indicate that the victims died from gunshot wounds to the head.

Neighbors told News Leader 9 they heard gunshots inside the home Tuesday night around 10:00 p.m.  They also told us the couple recently married in August.

Their bodies were found after Trooper J.D. Perry was called to the home to check on Alisha, since she did not show up for work that day.

She worked as a dispatcher at the Georgia State Patrol Office in Newnan, GA.  Alisha's co-worker, another dispatcher requested the check.

Coroner Bill Thrower tells us, "Both appeared to have gunshot wounds."
