Mr. Penny is going to BCS in Glendale

One of Auburn's most well known fans is going to the National Championship game.  The Facebook fundraiser to send Mr. Penny to Glendale, Arizona was a success.  In fact, it tripled the goal.

Mr. Penny got the news Thursday during a pep rally at Dean Road Elementary School.  He's worked at Dean Road as a janitor and crossing guard for 30 years.  Two parents who wanted to see him got the game set up the fundraiser.  Donations totaled over $9,300, so they bought tickets for Mr. Penny and his wife, along with luggage and a digital camera.

"I am so blessed.  God has blessed me.  This is a dream I've been dreaming about for a very, very long time and I am blessed to be going to Arizona.  We can win that national championship and bring it back to Auburn, Alabama." says Mr. Penny.

Auburn plays Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl January 10th. The Raycom News Network will have extensive coverage from Glendale, Arizona.
