Recycle your Christmas tree by bringing it to the chipper

COLUBMUS, GA (WTVM) –  The Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission invites the public to "Bring One for the Chipper" and recycle your Christmas tree.

Columbus residents can bring their trees to one of five locations beginning Saturday December 26th to January 8, 2011.

On Saturday, January 8 -- all trees will be mulched by Georgia Power.

The mulch will be available to residents at no cost.

In addition, recycling trucks will be on site collecting wrapping paper.

Christmas tree drop off sites:

  • Britt David Park behind the Home Depot (On Jan. 8, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. early birds can get a free Dogwood seedling provided by Supertree Nursery)
  • Cooper Creek Park on Milgen Road
  • Dinglewood Park on 13th Street
  • Columbus Botanical Garden, 3603 Weems Road
  • Shirley Winston Park at 5025 Steam Mill Road

Since 1991, Bring One for the Chipper has collected more than 4 million trees and has given away more than a million seedlings.
