COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - As soldiers and their families move here from Ft. Knox to complete base re-alignment before the September deadline, there are a lot of questions.

Fort Benning is using social media to give the answers, and trying something brand new next week. The base is hosting their first Facebook Town Hall.

Usually less than a hundred people attend Town Hall meetings on Ft. Benning.  Next week, thousands are expected to participate in a meeting, because they will not have to leave their home.

Web Content Manager Anthony O'Bryant said, "One of the things our leaders realize is that soldiers are really busy, families are really busy and that time that they have after work is really important."

People on post or in the area can stay in their pajamas, on the couch and ask questions in the informal setting. Those transferring from Ft. Knox for Base Realignment or BRAC can join the conversation from Kentucky.

"We made a promise to our Army families back in 2007 to take care of them and this is one of the ways we are going to provide them with the information we think they need to know about," explained O'Bryant.

Leaders will be on duty to answer questions posted in the discussion from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 12th.  Click here for the Facebook Fan Page.
