TROUP COUNTY, GA  - The Troup County Sheriff's Office executed two simultaneous search warrants Friday afternoon, at two separate businesses located in Troup County.

Based on their investigation, Drug Unit Agents of the Troup County Sheriff's Office conducted a search at Petro Food Mart located at 1748 Vernon Road.

Agents seized $7,589.00 in currency and play vouchers from previous winnings at the Petro Food Mart, along with various amounts of synthetic herbs which were made illegal in Georgia on July 1, 2010.

The owners of the business, Perexa Patel , 45, and Shamir Patel, 22, both of LaGrange, were  arrested and charged with commercial gambling. Both have, since, been released on bond and the investigation into the illegal synthetic herbs continues.

Through the execution of another search warrant, drug unit agents were able to seize $460.00, in currency and play vouchers, along with a Browning 9-millimeter pistol that appears to have been stolen - out of Coweta County – at J & J Bargain Barn located at 22 Teaver Road. The owner of the business was arrested and charged with Commercial Gambling.

John Wayne Young, age 63 of LaGrange, is currently being held at the Troup County Jail. The investigation continues into the allegedly stolen firearm.
