Confirmed Rabies Cases in Decatur County

DECATUR COUNTY, GA - Public health officials issued a rabies warning after a raccoon and donkey in Decatur County tested positive for the disease.

Health officials say it's rare for a donkey to contract rabies but all mammals are vulnerable to the virus.

That is why vets say you need to get your animals vaccinated.

The disease is transmitted mainly through bites from an infected animal but it can be passed simply through saliva.
