BCS Coaches’ Trophy stops in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Thousands made their way to the Wal-Mart at Columbus Park crossing today to see the BCS Championship Coaches' trophy with their own eyes.

"Take a little page out of Coach Chizik book to say it's an opportunity to be something, a small part of a big event," Charles Newman said.

The line to see the trophy reached out of the garden section and through the back of the store. Getting up close and personal with the trophy is something that long-time auburn fan Beth Young has been waiting for. She and her son went to the championship game in Arizona.

"I knew I had to be here because we went to the effort to go to the game and I've been cheering on the Tigers, I've been sitting in the same seat since I was a little girl," Young said.

Young was a girl that has been dressed in Auburn orange and blue practically since birth.

"Well I was one year old when they won the National Championship before," Young said.

Young may be 55 now but her Auburn pride is just as strong. She celebrated her birthday a day after the championship game.

"It's the best birthday I've ever had," Young said.

Seeing the crystal football trophy was the icing on the cake to a BCS experience she will never forget.

"The tickets cost so much, the flight cost so much, but the trip was priceless," Young said.
