AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -  Auburn University has a new title, National Football Champions, and now the school has a brand new website.

Auburn University's Communications Department tells News Leader Nine the school has had the same website design since 2005, but Sunday night they took the opportunity to show off the brand new look of www.auburn.edu

Brock Parker with Auburn University's Communications Department said, "We've been working one to two years, lots of planning and everything. We really got into the meat of it last summer and we've launched the new auburn.edu site."

Between sketches, planning, meetings and focus groups, a brand new Auburn University website was born.

"We sat down and said we need to include all this on the page and on the site so let's figure out how we want to present that. From there it was meeting after meeting and talking and sketching out designing and everything," Parker told News Leader Nine.

Less than 24 hours after making the website's debut, the communications department has already gotten a lot of feedback. Some users say they miss the old lay-out, but Parker says most of the people who click on the new homepage say they are impressed with the updated design, "We made this change for a lot of reasons. The old site was coded in such a way that would be hard to do any necessary upgrades."

Auburn has been getting its fair share of attention with the recent National Championship win, but that big game almost over-shadowed the website's launch.

Brock Parker explained, "We were originally going to launch on January 10th, the day of the National Championship game, that was the intent through the entire process. We were kind of skeptical about launching on a day where the national championship would be played."

So they decided January 23rd would be a fine date.

But the new upgrades don't stop with your computer, "Hopefully in the next few weeks we'll be able to get that and we'll have the full Auburn site in mobile version as well and you can carry it with you on the go."

If you click on the website and feel like you can't find what once was there, Parker adds, "The site looks different, but everywhere you go is the same."

One new detail they added to the website is a "Take Five" section. It has pictures, videos and stories about members of the Auburn family, and a different person will be highlighted each week.
