Demolition at Cross Country Plaza is on delay. The process of tearing down the old CVS Pharmacy was supposed to start Monday but the plans are still moving forward.

The bulldozers are on hold at least two more days in what used to be known as the place to shop in Columbus.

"I worked here in 1999 and the parking lot was always full it was so busy and i shopped here has well," said Latisha Royal.

Royal and her friend say those were the days when Service Merchandise was at Cross Country Plaza off Macon Road.

Stores like Cato, City Gear and Deja Vu's consignment boutique are hoping the change will bring back business.

"I think it will help and midtown is really increasing things," said Kathy Corizzo, a store owner.

Demolition is set for Wednesday of this week.

When the building is torn down and the new Publix is in place Glenwood Development says the new price tag will be $7.9 million.
