MONTGOMERY, AL - The Alabama Army National Guard's 111th Ordnance Group (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) out of Opelika is returning from their year-long tour in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn.
A redeployment ceremony for the unit is planned in Opelika at Fort Alfred C. Harrison. That's located at 300 Consumer Avenue.
The public is invited to attend and show support for the 111th Soldiers and their families.
Tentative plans are for the ceremony to take place Thursday at 11am on January 27. Authorities say travel times and demobilization requirements make the time subject to change with little notice, but attempts to provide updates will be made if needed.
In Iraq, the 111th provided command and control for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) battalions as the headquarters for Combined Joint Task Force (CJTF) Troy, a counter improvised explosive device task force.
