Columbus man indicted on home invasion, rape charges

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) –   A local man is facing rape and imprisonment charges in connection with a brutal home invasion in North Columbus.

Columbus Police say DNA links 23-year-old Andre Grier to the attack at a home off Warm Springs Road on East Heights Drive back in June of 2009.

Grier was indicted by a Muscogee County Grand Jury Tuesday on a long list of charges, including armed robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, aggravated sodomy, rape, and weapons violations.

Detectives say Grier is one of four men who burst into the home, robbing several people inside at gunpoint and raping one of the female victims, all with her 10-month-old baby nearby.

The indictment states the female victim was also forced to perform oral sex on Grier.

In June of 2007, Grier was convicted of theft by taking in Harris County Superior Court.

So far, he is the only person charged in the case which remains under investigation.
