Oakland Raiders linebacker targeted in shooting

DECATUR, AL - On January 27th, 2011 at approximately 6:36 p.m. Decatur Police Officers responded to the report of a person possibly being shot in the area of Second Street S.W. and Memorial Drive. Responding officers arrived on the scene, attempted to locate a victim, but did not.

At approximately 6:56 p.m., dispatch received a call from Rolando McClain. McClain met with officers on 6th Avenue S.W. and reported to officers that while he was driving on Second Street S.W., a group of people who were standing on the corner of 2nd Street and 8th Avenue started shooting at his vehicle.

Officers saw where one round struck the rear hatch of his Chevrolet Tahoe. The bullet did not penetrate the passenger compartment.

A Crime Scene Technician and Detectives responded to the location where McClain was meeting with Patrol Officers. McClain's vehicle was processed and the bullet was recovered. Detectives interviewed the passengers who were in McClain's vehicle at the time of the shooting and continue to follow leads in the case.
