Jury scam calls asked for personal informationý

LEE COUNTY, Ala (WTVM) -  Lee County authorities are warning residents about a new phone scam involving jury duty.

According to officials a man pretending to work for the Lee County Justice Center and tells the caller that they failed to report for jury duty.

After a few questions about serving as a juror, the caller  then tells the intended victim that they can avoid being picked up by law enforcement and settle the matter by providing their social security number or other personal information.

Lee County court officials wish to remind the public that all juror notification is conducted by U.S. mail and not by telephone.

Persons receiving these calls are asked to contact their local law enforcement agency.
