Ala. casino owner asking judge to end monitoring

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A federal judge is scheduled to hear a request from indicted casino owner Milton McGregor to stop wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Terry Moorer has set the hearing for Tuesday morning.

The bracelet was one of the conditions of McGregor's release on bond after he was indicted in October on bribery and conspiracy charges. The owner of the closed VictoryLand casino in Shorter has filed court papers saying the bracelet makes it difficult to sleep and has elevated his blood pressure.

Prosecutors are opposing his request. They say he was ordered to wear the bracelet after threatening FBI agents who arrested him.

McGregor disputes that.
