COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A day after the manhunt for Columbus attorney, Richard F. Dodelin ended, the family of murder victim, William Bullard talks about what led to his death.

Bullard's sister tells News Leader 9, the family is disgruntled about recent printed reports. They want to set the record straight.

The Bullard family spoke to us at their home.

"I want people to know the truth," said DeAnna Bullard, the victim's sister, "My brother's ex-wife Rebecca Hardy was dating the attorney and he had heard the man was bad mouthing his daughter."

Deanna says her brother and the attorney, Richard F. Dodelin, tried to work out their differences over the phone.

"They couldn't work it out over the phone, as you can see they met at 84 lumber company … he was saying ugly things," said DeAnna.

But it seems the disagreement goes further. Deanna told News Leader 9 William and his ex-wife had an on and off again relationship since their divorce 8 years ago.

"They had seen each other at least six months ago," remarks DeAnna.

DeAnna Bullard also says rumors about her brother being homeless and facing financial problems are not true.

Now, the family is planning a funeral for their brother. They say they're having a hard time dealing with his senseless death.
