MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Agents with the Internal Revenue Service have raided a Montgomery tax service where customers complained about not getting refund checks.
Federal officers spent Wednesday at San & Dee Taxes, where dozens of customers converged last week seeking tax refund checks that the owners said weren't ready. Police had to be called at one point because the crowd got so large.
IRS spokeswoman Patty Bergstrom said agents were at the company on "official business," but she declined further comment.
Calls to San & Dee Taxes went unanswered after the raid, but 1 of the owners last week blamed the slow refunds on a problem getting checks printed.
