Crowd expected at this weekend's book sale

From the Chattahoochee Valley Regional Library System

COLUMBUS, GA - Organizers expect 1,000 readers will shop the two-day Muscogee County Friends of Libraries used book sale at Columbus Public Library in early February.

"Some 4,000-5,000 books will be on sale – most for $1 or less," said Friends member Deborah Pugh, who is co-coordinator of the sale.

The doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 5, in the CB&T-Synovus Room. The sale runs until 5 p.m. that day, then from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 6.

"We'll have everything on sale," said Friends member George Nixon, the other co-coordinator. "From romance and mystery, books for children and young adults, plus history and biography."

There also will be a table selling rare and collectible books, Pugh said.

"This is the 13th book sale conducted by the Friends since 1998," said Alice Budge, president. "Money raised helps to support a wide range of library programs and to purchase materials."

The Friends also run the Library Store in the Columbus Public Library, open seven days a week, and book sale carts in the three city branch libraries.
