COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus Police are investigating a suspicious death after a man is found dead inside an East Carver Heights home.

The body of 56-year-old Jerome Menefee was found around 5 AM Monday in a house on Ruben Street, located between Illges Road and Morris Road.

Investigators say they don't know yet how Menefee died, adding there were no obvious or outward signs of injury.

His body has been sent for an autopsy.

Police reports indicate he had black eyes when he was found.
