PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Tobette Ward and her family are leaning on each other, grieving the loss of 18 year-old Traquavious Moss, her nephew.  Known to family as "little man," Moss died this morning at the Medical Center. That's where he was transported last night after being shot in the head.

According to Ward, the 16 year-old being charged by Phenix City police in connection to the investigation is also her nephew.

"It's just a senseless accident between family we lose out both ways two nephew's one in jail and one is gone from us," Tobette Ward said.

Ward described what happened as a freak accident, something out of a movie. She says the two cousins were close. Police say the gun went off, a bullet hitting Moss in the head.

"It wasn't like somebody tried to hurt little man it wasn't that, it was a senseless accident," Ward said.

Friends in the community say Moss enjoyed playing basketball and had a kind heart.

"I will miss him, I'm going to always miss him but he isn't going to be forgotten," Shedtavious Crawford

Moss' aunt, Tobette Ward, says that her family will try to pick up the pieces and move on. She cautions other young people dangerous guns can be.

"Man these kids leave these guns alone little man was just not any average thug out here  in the street he was going place in life, he never deserved this," Ward said.
