Mardi Gras parades begin in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mardi Gras season has arrived in Mobile.

The Cond Cavaliers' floats roll through downtown Friday night. The floats representing this year's theme, "Nightmares and Terrors," will travel along Mobile's Parade Route A under a full moon.

Three parades will be held Saturday, starting with the Bayport Parading Society at 2:30 p.m., on Route A. The Pharaohs will roll at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Cond Explorers at 7 p.m.

There's an encouraging forecast from the National Weather Service. Meteorologist Joe Maniscalco says Friday and Saturday are expected to be rain-free and warm. He says high temperatures on Saturday should be in the 70s.
