CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A 14-year-old who was trying to learn how to drive, ended up crashing into a home in Cleveland County Sunday morning.

According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, a 17-year-old was trying to teach his 14-year-old brother how to drive a stick shift around 11 a.m.

A trooper told WBTV the younger teen was driving a Mazda Miata in a curve on Mary's Grove Church Road and ran off the right side before overcorrecting.

He ran into a mailbox and a guide-wire on a phone pole before hitting the concrete porch of a house.

A person in the house was not hurt.

Both brothers suffered minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

The Mazda was completely totaled.  The highway patrol says charges are pending against both teens.
