Merritt resigns with Columbus Lions

COLUMBUS, GA  (WTVM) – The Columbus Lions resigned two of the key players from last year's SIFL Championship run.

Defensive back Anthony Merritt returns for his fourth season at the Columbus Civic Center.

The former Shaw High Raider had six interceptions and two fumble returns for touchdowns, was the team's top kick returner, and scored five rushing touchdowns on offense.

Also signing, defensive lineman Franklin Lloyd.

Lloyd led the league with 9-and-a-half sacks and 12-and-a-half tackles for loss.

The Lions open training camp a week from Tuesday.
