COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) - What's left of the Williams family's home is scattered in their front yard covered in ashes.
Arlene Williams was in bed when her daughter yelled for everyone to get out because their home was on fire.
"It is not easy. This is the second time I have been through this. It is not easy," explained Williams.
Williams, her husband, and four others lived in the home off Victory Drive. Columbus firefighters worked over night to put out the flames.
Officials told Williams the fire started in a back bedroom.
Water and smoke damage has left the family with only the clothes on their backs.
"You can only be grateful because everybody got out safe."
The Red Cross found shelter for the Williams at a hotel in Columbus.
Williams is asking the community for help. Their primary need is clothing and a new place to live. If you would like to donate items for the Williams family, you can contact the Red Cross at 706-323-5614.
