BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Trees and power lines were reported down as thunderstorms moved across northern Alabama, bringing gusty winds, lightning, and heavy rainfall.
In Jasper, police said storms caused damage to the Eastside Baptist Church's sign on Highway 118 Thursday night.
Gusty winds were blamed for knocking down trees and power lines, including on a home in Fultondale, on a storage building in Leeds and along Minor Parkway in Jefferson County.
In Birmingham's Ensley area, a car fell into Village Creek. Officers say all of the passengers were able to exit the vehicle safely.
The storms were moving eastward Friday morning.
