Police: Be alert for wild turkeys on highway

MILTON, Ga. (AP) - Police are advising motorists on a busy state highway in suburban Atlanta to be cautious and alert for wild turkeys crossing in traffic.

Milton police Capt. Shawn McCarty says wild turkeys have been wandering into the highway - known as Arnold Mill Road - for the past couple of days.

The turkeys have pecked at car tires but no wrecks have been reported as most vehicles slow down to avoid hitting the birds.

McCarty tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that motorists should be cautious, slow down and try to avoid the turkeys.

Milton is about 30 miles north of downtown Atlanta.
