Mark Ingram cuts 40 times at Alabama's pro day

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Mark Ingram used Alabama's pro day to prove he's faster than he showed at the NFL combine.

The Heisman Trophy-winning tailback says he heard he ran anywhere from a 4.47 to a 4.53 40 time from NFL officials on Wednesday at Alabama's indoor facility. Either is a big improvement from the 4.62 he clocked at Indianapolis.

Ingram says he'd watched that run a number of times and worked on his technique because "I knew I could run faster."

He also went through position drills in the Crimson Tide's two-hour pro day. So did defensive lineman Marcell Dareus, who stuck to his 40 time from the combine but did do the broad jump.

He says he jumped about 8 feet, 10 inches.

Wide receiver Julio Jones watched while on crutches four days after undergoing foot surgery.
