COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus State University students may be on spring break but the campus was bustling Thursday as emergency responders were called.... But it was just a drill.

As part of the school's on-going emergency preparedness plan a simulated hazardous material spill took place. It gives the university a chance to set up a plan and responders a chance to practice.

Muscogee County EMA Director Riley Land told News Leader Nine, "We have evolution of technology that we're bringing into play. We're trying to integrate our new radio systems, integrating satellite communication systems and more of less, the most important thing is the person to person contact we get with responders and players that show up for these."

The CSU Police Department, Columbus Police, Homeland Security and the campus emergency response team all participated in the drill.
