COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus Police have arrested a man they say was stalking young girls and trying to entice them into his car on their way to school Friday morning.

Norberto Colon, 49, is facing three counts of stalking.

Lt. John McMichael in the Columbus Police Department's Robbery/Homicide Division says Colon  approached three different teenage girls in the area of Fletcher Avenue, Youmans Street and Wade Street in South Columbus around 6:30 AM. All of the girls were walking to their bus stops.

First, investigators say Colon pulled up to a 15- year-old girl in his car, opened the passenger-side door and told her to get inside. She kept walking and he kept following alongside of her and trying to persuade her to get in his car. Another man in the area saw what was happening and told Colon to leave the girl alone and he drove off.

After that, police say Colon approached a 16-year-old girl and 15-year-old girl in the same manner. The girls would not respond to him and McMichael says he drove off.

The victims reported what happened to them when they got to school and police put out a description of Colon and his car. He was pulled over and arrested.

Detectives say he could give no legitimate explanation for his actions and was charged with stalking, a misdemeanor.
