COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) –   Columbus law enforcement, attorneys, and many more came together at First Presbyterian Church for Judge Robert Johnston's memorial on Tuesday.

Judge Johnston, passed away Friday at age 62, was a Superior Court Judge for Columbus for more nearly 15 years.

Those who remembered him said he was always a man of the law.

Muscogee Co. Sheriff's Deputy Charles Nathan said, "He was the man of the law. He was a no nonsense judge but I did notice, learned a long time ago there's a spirit of the law and you have the land of the law and he was both."

Judge Johnston presided over numerous big cases during his tenure.

One of the most high profile was that of Carlton Gary, the man convicted of being the Columbus Stocking Strangler
