South Georgia wildfire closes school

DARIEN, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say heavy smoke from a wildfire burning in south Georgia has closed a high school.

Officials say McIntosh County Academy was closed Monday as a precaution as the blaze burning north of Darien produced thick smoke in the area.

School officials say all other public schools in McIntosh County are open.

Officials say classes are expected to resume Tuesday under the normal schedule at McIntosh County Academy.
