COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Crews have been called in to remove graffiti scrawled across the front of Shaw High School in North Columbus.

Anarchy symbols and phrases were found spray painted on the school early Wednesday morning.

A red "Circle-A," the most common anarchy symbol, was written next to the phrase "Contest your Authorities" with other "Circle-A's" sprayed around it. Other statements like "Think for yourself" and "Blank walls equals blank minds" were spray painted in black and red on the front and side of the school.

Anarchy is the absence of all law and disobedience to any existing law. Anarchists do not believe is any government.

Police say the case is being investigated as "Criminal Damage to Property" but it cannot be determined whether or not a student or students are responsible for the vandalism.

Officers do not believe it is gang related.

An estimated $750-$1000 worth of damage was done.

One of the school's coaches told security he left Shaw at 8 PM Tuesday night and the graffiti wasn't there so it was done sometime between then and when people starting arriving to the school at 7:15 Wednesday morning.

Crews will power wash the words and symbols off the walls.
