WEST POINT, GA (WTVM) – This week, West Point detectives arrested a man connected to a four-year-old rape case.

Back in November of 2010, detectives realized that the suspect connected to the crime, Lewis Roberts, was already incarcerated.

The month before, Roberts was arrested for his involvement in a drug operation. Undercover narcotics agents from Chambers County, AL and West Point and LaGrange, GA, say he sold drugs to them.

Around the same time, DNA evidence linked Roberts to a rape incident that was reported on January 1, 2007. The woman told police that an unknown man entered her home and sexually assaulted her while she was asleep in bed.

Roberts was recently released from Chambers County, AL authorities.

On March 29, 2011, he was arrested by detectives of the West Point Police Department.

Extradition warrants were signed and he was extradited back to Georgia where he faces rape and sale of cocaine charges. He was processed into the West Point City Jail pending first appearance hearings in the Municipal Court of West Point.
