Woman with gunshot wound found dead in Phenix City

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) –  Lee County Sherriff deputies are investigating a woman found with a gunshot wound early Saturday morning in Phenix City.

Deputies found Tammy Danielle Wade, 28, lying on her bathroom floor with a single gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Edward Ray Wade, 28, was taken into custody at the scene by Lee County deputies. Neighbors say they heard screaming and yelling coming from the home just before hearing gun shots.

"This is an ongoing investigation, into circumstances dealing with the death of Mrs. Wade. There is a possibility that further charges could be added on and forthcoming but at this point it is to early to tell," Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones said.

Investigators found two 9 MM handguns inside the home. Reports say that a struggle appeared to have taken place at the home. Edward Wade was arrested and charged for striking his wife before the shooting.

The couple had two children, but they were not home at the time of the dispute.

Edward Wade is on out a $1,000 bond. He has been charged with domestic violence assault.  Sheriff Jones says more charges could be filed in the future.
