Crime in Troup County caught on tape

LaGrange, GA (WTVM) - The Troup County Sheriff's Office and The LaGrange Police Department are asking for your help in solving two crimes occurring last week.

The following is a press release from the LaGrange Police Department:

OFFENSE: Armed Robbery

VICTIM: Summit #29, 208 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA

SUSPECT: Unknown Male

LOCATION: 208 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA

DATE/TIME: March 31, 2011 at 0350 hours

INCIDENT: On March 31, 2011 at about 0350 hours officers from the LaGrange Police Department responded to the Summit Gas Station, 208 Vernon Road, LaGrange, Georgia, in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers made contact with the store clerk Carol Smith who advised that an unknown male entered the store and put silver in color pistol to her face and advised her to give him the money. Smith gave the subject an undisclosed amount of currency from the register, and then the unknown male subject took flight out the door on foot. Smith described the subject as about 508 in height, slim, in his early 20's, wearing blue jeans, red shirt, ball cap, with a bandana over his face. Smith stated the subject appeared to be a black male. The Troup County Sheriff's Office is investigating a Burglary that occurred in the pre-dawn hours of April 1st (approximately 4am). In this surveillance video the thief is seen forcing his way into Corley Drugs (on N. Davis Rd. in LaGrange). After his entry the alleged thief makes off with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register drawer (till) and a small amount of insulin. If you should recognize this man, or know anything further that could help us solve this case, Sheriff Donny Turner asks that you call the Troup County Crime Stoppers Hotline at (706)812-1000. Your identity will remain confidential; and, if the information you provide leads to an arrest in this case, you may receive a cash reward.
