ATMORE, Ala. (AP) - Alabama corrections officials say they've put down an inmate uprising at Holman Prison near Atmore.
Officials say inmates took control of Holman's A-Dorm about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. About 115 men live there, but not all participated in the standoff.
A statement from the department says inmates initially resisted officers in riot gear, but staff regained control of the dorm in less than four hours.
Corrections officials say a few inmates who refused orders suffered minor injuries, but no one had to be taken to a hospital for treatment. The department says no prison workers were hurt.
Holman is located in southwest Alabama north of Mobile. The lockup is best known as the prison where the state conducts executions.
