Man killed in single car crash on I-85

On April 8, 2011 at approximately 7:21 AM (CST), members of the Opelika Police Department responded to Interstate 85 at the South Bound Entrance ramp at Exit 60 in reference to a vehicle accident with injuries.

Upon arrival officers located a 1991 Toyota Tercel in the grass area of the entrance ramp on the north side of the roadway. 

According to witnesses the driver of the Toyota was travelling South on Interstate 85 and struck the rear of a Crane Truck (unknown made or model) (also travelling South), then left the road way, crossed the South Bound entrance ramp and came to rest in a grass area on the North side of the roadway.

The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene by Lee County Coroner Bill Harris at 7:35 AM (CST).

The driver was identified as Porter Michael Moore, 60 years of age of Opelika.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Opelika Police Department.
