Fort Benning says it will continue to care for families

From the Fort Benning Office of Public Affairs

FORT BENNING, GA - Fort Benning Remains hopeful that a government shutdown will be
averted.

The Fort Benning team is committed to taking care of our Soldiers, families and civilians.

Fort Benning will remain open.  All essential services - law enforcement, medical and dental facilities, schools, child-care facilities, and emergency services will continue.

In addition, our post exchange, convenience stores, and some morale, welfare and recreation services will continue to operate.  The commissary will remain open.

All military and civilian personnel should report to work April 11.  At that time, they will receive guidance from their supervisors based on the current situation.

The Fort Benning website will be updated regularly.  Our goal is to provide our Soldiers, civilians and their Families with accurate information until the current situation is resolved.

Those impacted financially are encouraged to take advantage of some of the programs and services available, such as Army Emergency Relief, that can provide assistance.

Our mission is to prepare Soldiers and leaders in support of our nation's defense. Regardless of what happens, we will continue with our mission to support our nation.
