4 men injured, 1 arrested after shooting on Broadway in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) - One man is in custody after police said he opened fire on four men early Sunday morning near 1010 Broadway in Columbus.

Columbus Police arrested and charged Gregory James, 38, from Phenix City, Alabama with four counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and theft by receiving stolen property.  The 45 caliber pistol police said the suspect used was previously reported stolen.

Police said the suspect previously had a disagreement with one of the four victims.  Police told News Leader Nine that is why Gregory came to the area early this morning to find the men.  Around 2:45 am, police said the suspect opened fire, hitting two men in the abdomen, one man on the left leg, and one man on the right hand.

The victims were taken to the Medical Center.  Police tell News Leader Nine three of the men had to undergo surgery and the two victims with gunshot wounds to their abdomen are in critical condition.

Gregory is set to appear in court Monday at 8:00am.
