Gunman gets away on bicycle after holding up Family Dollar

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Columbus Police Department needs the public's help finding a suspect that robbed a department store on Veteran's Parkway Monday.  

Authorities tell us around  5:00 p.m. the gunman in the photo held up the Family Dollar at the intersection of River Road and Veterans Parkway.

The suspect is described as 22 to 28 years old, 150 to 170 pounds, medium build and wearing some facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a long plain white T-shirt, a black ball cap,  knee-length black shorts and black and white Nike shoes.

Witnesses say he was armed with what appeared to be a silver 38-caliber revolver and fled the scene on a bicycle, possible one used to go up mountains.

Investigators tell us the black ball cap and the bicycle used to get away from the scene was found near the scene of the crime.
